Salem District People Service Society (SDPSS) is a registered non-government, non-profit voluntary organization working for the advancement of our underprivileged societies; SDPSS is organized by a group of young professionals working in various back

SDPSS is a grass roots, child-focused, development agency, serving the poor without regard to religion, caste, or gender operating in Salem, Tamil Nadu. It aims to build capacity and empower families and communities around the children to offer them a wholesome life filled with hope, dignity, justice and peace.

Issues SDPSS Addresses:
-Empowerment of marginalized and disadvantaged groups by strengthening efforts to build self-reliance and to bring them into mainstream society
-To promote the development of children, women, disabled persons and backward communities with concern to environment protection
-To promote their participation in education, health care and economic activities
-To promote awareness and education for the target communities
-To give quality health care and support to HIV positive persons

Our goal is to promote a society in which everybody, including poor, marginalized and disadvantaged communities, have equal opportunities and facilities to assist them in reaching their full potential and become self-reliant with justice, equity and pride. We hope to do so by enhancing life standards in both qualitative and quantitative terms so as to integrate the marginalized and vulnerable populations and help them to participate in the mainstream society.


SDPSS work to increase education, employment, income generation, and empowerment for the eradication of child and bonded labor by mainstreaming deprived children into regular schools. We also work for the empowerment of women through creation of micro-enterprises and by promoting income-generating activities and jobs for growth. Additionally, SDPSS focuses on strengthening grassroots involvement and democracy by setting up Citizens’ Centers. Lastly, we promote health and hygiene among rural populations and work to protect the local environment through watershed projects and solid waste management interventions.

Document support Group Meeting For Postive living with HIV/ Support Group Meeting Abstract Now that you know” meetings provide the opportunity for new clients who wish to do so to share feelings, fears and concerns related to their HIV serostatus and to learn how to live positively with the virus from then onwards. These meetings are conducted by experienced counselors and clients who have learnt to live positively with the virus. “Monthly Clients Meetings” bring together larger groups of PLWHA and provide a forum for willing clients to participate, share, learn, socialize, inform. . Many PLWHA have been trained in basic counseling skills, community entry skills and ART and TB defaulter tracing. In this way, they actively participate in the services they themselves receive.

Document Tobocco Awarness for Youth In India, 200 million active tobacco users and 2,200 persons die every day from tobacco-related diseases. As per the World Health Organisation projections, India will have the highest rate of rise in tobacco-related deaths by the year 2020. The report further states that out of 100 teenagers smoking in India today, 50 will eventually die of tobacco-related disease.
